Physical description: Short, controlled, with a slightly angular face and light frame. She usually keeps her nape-length hair tightly bound and out of the way. It's easy to tell at a glance that she has foreign ancestry, but her skin is lighter than most foreigners and she has the mannerisms of a local lower-level noble.

Sofya's clothes tend to be high quality but also stringently pragmatic. She dislikes the bulky "wizard's robe" and instead wears a lighter robe that only reaches her elbows and a couple inches below her knees, underneath which she has on a more pragmatic apparel of pants and a long-sleeved tunic. Close examination would reveal that all these clothes are high-quality fabric, and her rings and hair-braids are overly beyond the pay-grade of a simple wizard.

Personality: A witty, perceptive, but only tolerably bright graduate of the wizard's academy. Sofya hails from a wealthy family and has an obviously cultured demeanor, with a quick tongue and refined behavior. She has had to pass her studies the hard way, using pragmatism and underhanded tactics in place of the raw talent and understanding held by many of her casting peers. This has given her an appreciation for the pragmatic and taught her to use "cheap" tactics in order to accomplish her goals. Among other people she is friendly and well meaning, but she holds enough preconceptions about the lower classes to muddle her judgement.

Background: Sofya is a third-generation immigrant to Verselee. Her grandfather traveled as a young man from Alurd Alawsat, where the family built up a prosperous merchant business. Shortly before she was born her father earned the title of baron, making him the newest member of the city's nobility. Sofya herself has never known anything but the city and the wizard's academy that her father sent her (along with a large monetary donation) to study in.
